Hi Jack Fans,
The Lumberjacks played in the Salt City Bowl this past Saturday in Hutchinson, Kansas. The Jacks came out on the short end of the score, losing 57 to 0.  It was a great experience for the Jacks and hopefully next time we will do a lot better.  The weather was cold and a slight wind made it feel like it was around zero. It was a beautiful stadium with artificial turf and a great seating area on both sides.
We got behind early on a couple big pass plays and then made a couple of great defensive stops. We struggled on offense all day and never were able to get anything going. We had some things we thought we could take advantage of but were never able to come up with a play when we needed it.
I thought for the most part we did an ok job with stopping the run, but we gave up way to many pass plays for big yards and touchdowns.
The Jacks had a great year with many things to be proud of. We hope going forward this will help us to continue to build our program and make more student athletes want to play for the Jacks. Thanks for all your support of Jacks football and may you all have a Merry Christmas. Seems weird saying that in a football blog.

Thanks again for following the Jacks,
Coach Pfeifer

The Jacks traveled to Ellendale to play Lions from Trinity Bible on Saturday afternoon. The Jacks came away with a tough 6 to 0 victory. The Jacks struggled all day scoring in the red zone. We were in the red zone 5 times before we were finally able to get one in the end zone in the fourth quarter.

The offense was able to move the ball but was hurt by penalties, a wet field, a 25 to 30 mile an hour wind, and missed assignments at crucial times. The only drive we scored on we had no penalties and played good football. It was a tough day to move the ball and score with the field conditions and the wind but we did an ok job. We just had to many mistakes to get the ball in the end zone.

The defense had a good day. We kept them out of the end zone which is always a great thing. For the most part the defense played well. When we gave up some yards it was because of missed assignments. Overall a good performance by the defense.

The Jacks have completed their regular season and have had a very good year. We have been contacted about the possibility of playing in a bowl game in December. We will know more and will be sure to let you know if that comes true.

Have a great week and Go Jacks!!!!!!!

Saturday afternoon the Jacks hosted the Wildcats from Wahpeton. The Jacks got off to a good start and grabbed an early 7 to 0 lead. The game was tied up at 7 at halftime. The Jacks had a couple very good scoring opportunities in the second quarter and could not get the ball in the endzone. The Jacks came out in the third quarter and grabbed a 13 to 7 lead again. They lead until late in the third quarter when the wildcats went on a scoring drive to take a 16 to 13 lead at the end of the third quarter. In the fourth quarter the wildcats had two big pass plays and the jacks had one big pass play to make the final score 30 to 21 in favor of the cats.

The Jacks offense really struggled getting anything going consistently. At times the Jacks moved the ball and at other times the offense really struggled. I believe we can do some things  that can help us this weekend at Ellendale. The defense had a good first half only giving up one big play. In the second half we gave up 3 big plays that all lead to scores for them.

This weekend the Jacks travel to Ellendale for a game. Thanks for your support of Jacks football and have a great week.  Go Jacks

Good afternoon Jack fans,
Last night the Lumberjacks hosted the Comet JV from Mayville State and came away with a 45 to 0 victory to run our record to 7 and 1.  The Jacks played their best game of the year to date. We played pretty solid football the whole night. The offense had a good night running the ball and only had one turnover. We were also able to eliminate some of the penalties that had been killing us.  We still have a ways to go, but if we can keep making some improvements that should help our offense.
The defense had a pretty solid night. We were able to keep them out of the end zone which is always a good thing. I thought we started out really well and then kind of leveled out. We had some chances to make some key stops and plays, but we were not as sharp as we have been lately.
Next week the Jacks host Metro State from Denver on Saturday afternoon at 2 PM. Hope to see you all there as the Jacks try to keep things rolling.

Have a great weekend and Go Jacks!!!!

Hi Jack Fans,
The Lumberjacks got another win yesterday with a 27 to 20 victory over Concordia yesterday.
The Jacks got off to another great start scoring on their first position to grab a quick 7 to 0 lead.
The defense got the offense the ball back in great field position, but the offense was not able to take advantage and gave the ball back on a turnover.
The rest of the game was a struggle on offense as the same things continue to hurt the offense. We continue to hurt ourselves with penalties and turnovers. The defense played a solid game and came up with a big stop in the end to win the game for us.
The Jacks are back in action again on Friday night at 6 against Mayville State Junior Varsity. Hope to see you all there supporting our Lumberjacks.

Hope you have a great week and Go Jacks!

Hi Jack Fans,
Yesterday the Jacks traveled to Wahpeton and came away with a hard fought 14 to 13 win to move their record to 5 and 1 on the year.  The Jacks started off fast scoring on their opening drive to grab a quick 7 to 0 lead. The rest of the first half was another half of frustration as the Jacks had some good scoring opportunities but could not get the ball back in the end zone. The Wildcats completed a couple of big pass plays that put them in position to score their two touchdowns. The Jacks had a great chance to take the lead just before half, but a big mental mistake took away a pick six.

The second half was a battle back and forth with the Jacks taking a lead early in the fourth quarter.
Wahpeton had a couple more chances but the defense came up big the whole second half. They had a big pass play and a couple quarterback scrambles that gave them a chance to kick a long field goal at the end, but it was not successful giving the Jacks a big win.

The offense still has a long ways to go. We still make to many unforced mistakes to be a good offense. When we hit on all cylinders we do some good things, but we have not been consistent enough over this whole year. The defense had another good game. We gave up two long pass plays, but other then that it was a good effort. We have a few things that we need to get better at and hopefully that will make our defense really solid.

Hope you all have a great week. The Jacks play next Sunday at Concordia.
Go Jacks!

Hi Jack fans,
The Lumberjacks traveled to St Peter, MN this weekend to play the Gustavus Adolphus JV.
The Jacks came out with a victory with a score of 39 to 21 on a beautiful afternoon. The Jacks got off to a good start with a score on their first drive. The defense set the tone early and had a great first half, holding them scoreless and causing three turnovers. The offense sputtered off and on all day long. We had many nice drives that ended with fumbles, penalties, and dropped passes.

As we move forward, we believe we can improve on many areas of our football team.  We must fix our problems on offense if we are going to beat some of the teams coming up. We cannot keep hurting our offense with these kinds of mistakes.  If we can eliminate some of these things, then I think we can compete and have a great end to our season.

Hope all the Jack fans have a great week and Go JACKS!

Good morning Jack fans. The Jacks traveled to Mayville last night to play the Mayville State JV.
The Jacks got off to a great start in the first quarter. We kicked off to Mayville and held them on 3 downs and got the ball around midfield and promptly drove down and scored. Mayville fumbled the ensuing kickoff and the Jacks took over at the 3 and scored on the next play.

The next quarter and a half the defense played great and the offense sputtered. We had many good scoring opportunities and could not get it back in the endzone until right before half. The second half continued much like the first half with missed opportunities. We were able to get a couple of scores but for the most part the offense struggled with penalties. The game ended up with a final score of 37 to 7 in favor of the Jacks. The Jacks defense played a great game as they gave up no points. Their only score came on a pick six.

We have a few days off before we play next Sunday in Minneapolis. We are happy with the way we are progressing. We think we are getting better each week, but we still have many things that we can clean up and get better at.

Hope you all have a great weekend and Go Jacks!!!!!!

The Lumberjacks hosted the Jaguars from Cole College this afternoon in their homecoming game.
The Jacks came out on top in the game by the score of 69 to 32. We were very pleased with the
offense putting up all those points. We feel we made a few improvements, but we are still making to
mistakes. We feel most of these can be fixed, but we are moving very slowly in that directions.

Our offense had a nice day throwing the ball. We were able to get behind the secondary a couple of times and also missed a couple guys wide open. We struggled running the ball consistently. They constantly brought pressure and we did a poor job of picking it up. That is one area we need to make some big improvements or teams will continue to bring the house at us. We feel we like these are things that we can correct and we need to get it done soon.

Our defense did a nice job today of turning the ball over. We did a nice job against the run, but really struggled giving up the big pass play. Again we think that we can get better defending the pass. When we played solid defense and did our job as a team, we did a nice job. We need to make sure we are all on the same page all the time.

The biggest disappoint is our stupid penalties. Their is no excuse for them, and they will not be tolerated in the future. We want players to play sound fundamental football and right now we have some guys struggling in that department.

Thanks for checking in on the Jacks and hope you have a great weekend. We play this Thursday at Mayville State JV.

Hi Jacks fans,
The Lumberjacks traveled to Fort Dodge, Iowa this weekend and played Iowa Central Tritons.
The Jacks had an ok start and then things fell apart for the first half. The offense had four turnovers and a couple of penalties that really hurt the Jacks.  The defense played pretty good other than giving up two long touchdown passes.
The second half the Jacks seemed to settle down and play better football. We stopped turning the ball over and were able to get a couple nice drives going.  The defense played another good half of football.
Overall the Jacks really played two totally different halves of football. If we can play the whole game like the second half, then we have a chance to win some games in the future.
This next Saturday the 14th we have our homecoming game at 1pm against Cole College. We hope to see you there and Go Jacks.

Hope you all have a great week and come out and support homecoming activities.

Hi Jack fans,
Last night the Jacks opened their season on a good note. The lumberjacks hosted the Lions from Trinity Bible and came away with a 20 to 6 victory. The Jacks played some good football for most of the night. The offense had a slow start but started to move the ball in the second quarter and got in the red zone 3 times but came away with no points. Had some mistakes that we think can be corrected and next time we can get in the endzone.. The second half the offense continued to move the ball, but still had problems getting in the endzone,  We finally scored towards the end of the third quarter and then again early in the fourth.  The defense had a very solid effort and got in the scoring column by returning an interception for a touchdown. Overall we are pleased with the outcome but we can and know we can get much better.
The Jacks are off next week and travel to Dodge City. Iowa on the 7th for our next game. I think the jacks are going to have an exciting year as we get ready to enter the Minnesota League next year. Hope you all have a great week and lets go JACKS!!!!!!!
