Good morning Jack fans,
The Jacks played in the Graphic Edge Bowl yesterday and were defeated by Ellsworth 39 to 7.
The Jacks fell behind 7 to 0 in the first quarter and were able to tie it up at 7 to 7 in the second quarter. Ellsworth went back on top 13 to 7 after a Jacks turnover just before halftime.

The third quarter saw Ellsworth add to field goals to their score to make it 19 to 7 heading into the fourth quarter.  In the fourth Ellsworth competed a short pass and turned it into a big touchdown to put the Jacks down 26 to 7. The Jacks fumbled and thru a pick on their next two drives which resulted in a short field for Ellsworth that they turned into touchdowns.

The Jacks had trouble all day moving the ball on offense. Defensively the Jacks played ok for the most part of the game. The Jacks end their season at 8 and 3 and look forward to the offseason.

Thanks for following the Jacks and Merry Christmas to all

Hi Jack fans,
The Jacks traveled to Rochester for semi-final action and came away with a 24 to 21 loss in overtime.
It was a close game all the way. The Jacks jumped out on top first with a fumble recovery for a TD. Rochester came back and scored the next two touchdowns to go ahead 14 to 7. The Jacks fought back and scored again and the game was tied at 14 at the half.

The second half turned into a defensive struggle as neither team scored in the third quarter. Rochester scored first in the fourth quarter and then the Jacks came back and tied it with around 4 minutes to play.  The Jacks picked off the Yellowjackets on their first play. The Jacks were able to get to the 28 yard line and attempt a 45 yard field that was short.

In overtime the Jackets and the ball first and ended up kicking a field goal. The Jacks got the ball next and were unable to move the ball and got sacked to end the game.

Was a great battle all game long and sure a tough game to lose. The Jacks wrap up their regular season and playoff run playing very good football.

Thanks for checking in on the Jacks and hope you all have a great week.

Good morning Jacks fans,
Yesterday the Jacks hosted their first playoff game ever and came away with a big 52 to 19 victory over Vermillion Community College. The Jacks fell behind early 6 to 0 and promptly moved the ball down the field to take a 7 to 6 lead.

The offense continued to show signs of improvement again this week and the defense had a couple of big plays that forced turnovers and the Jacks were able to return for touchdowns. Overall a great team effort by the Jacks. All phases of the game played really well. The only negative for the Jacks was way to many penalties. We will have to clean that part of the game up if we want to continue on the road and keep playing past this weekend.

The Jacks will travel to Rochester this weekend to play them. The day and time of the game has not been announced as of yet. The Jacks thank you for all the support and hope you have a great week.

Go Jacks!!!

Hi Jack Fans,
This past Saturday the Jacks traveled to Wahpeton and took on the the Wildcats for the Lumbercat trophy.  The Jacks came away with a big 42 to 21 victory to move their record to 7 and 1 on the year.

The Jacks got rolling early with a pick on the second play of the game and then the offense was able to score in two plays to put the Jacks up early. The great play continued and the Jacks built up a 21 to 0 lead before Wahpeton put a couple of scores up before halftime to make the score 21 to 14.

The Jacks received the second half kickoff and drove down and scored. The defense got in the scoring act next as they intercepted on Wahpeton's first play and returned for a touchdown to make it 35 to 14 early in the third. Later in the third the defense came up big again as they returned a fumble 87 yards for a touchdown to make it 42 to 14. Wahpeton scored a touchdown later in the game to make the final 42 to 21.

This week the Jacks host Vermillion at 12 noon in the first round of the playoffs. Hope you can come out and see the Jacks in action this Saturday.

Hope you have a great week and Go Jacks!!!

Hi Jack Fans,
This past Saturday the Jacks hosted FonduLac and came away with a 43 to 6 victory to raise their record to 6-1 on the year. The Jacks had some early opportunities to get the ball in the end zone but had to settle for field goals. The Jacks finally got in the end zone in the second quarter and took a 13 to 0 lead in at halftime.

In the second half the offense was able to get a couple more touchdowns and the defense came up big with a fumble recovery for a td and an interception return for a td. The Jacks had a great game on defense limiting them to 6 total yards of offense. The offense got untracked  a little bit and hopes that it can keep it going this week and the rest of the season.

This week the Jacks travel to Wapheton for the end of the regular season and then the next weekend the Jacks will host a first round playoff game. The time and opponent has not been decided yet.

Good morning Jack fans,
The Jacks hosted Vermilion on Saturday for homecoming and came away with a 13 to 12 victory.
The Jacks jumped out to a 13 to 0 lead in the first quarter and had to hold on to come away with a victory.  The Jacks defense set the tone if the first quarter with 4 interceptions but the Jacks gave
it right back with 2 interceptions in the red zone.

The defense had another solid outing and the offense continued to struggle with penalties and turnovers.  The defense limited them to minus yards rushing for the second week in a row which is something that hardly ever gets done.

This week the Jacks are at home again looking to lock up a home playoff game on the 25th with a victory. Kickoff is set for 12 noon this Saturday.

Have a great week and go Jacks.

This past Saturday the Jacks played in Virginia, MN and came away with a 12 to 0 victory.
The defense had an outstanding day limiting Mesabi Range to around 10 yards of total offense.
The offense moved the ball well at times and were hurt by some big penalties that killed a couple of nice drives.
This is homecoming week for the Jacks. Kickoff is set for 12 noon on Saturday and hope to see you at the game. We play another team with a very good defense, so we must work hard to eliminate those drive killing things that have been getting us.
Have a great week and go Jacks.

On Saturday the Jacks traveled to Grand Rapids, MN to take on Itasca CC. The Jacks came out with a 17 to 13 victory in a very hard fought game. The Jacks got on the board first when the defense came up big with a fumble recovery for a touchdown. The offense had a nice drive going and stalled out on a bad snap and had to settle for a field goal to go up 10 to 0. Itasca came right back on a quick drive and scored right before half to make it 10 to 7.

The second half was much like the first half until Itasca got behind our secondary for a touchdown pass that put them ahead 13 to 10. With about 10 minutes to go in the game the Jacks got in the end zone to put us up 17 to 13. That was all the scoring and the final ended up being 17 to 13.

The Jacks had their poorest outing of the year I believe. We had way to many turnovers, bad snaps, blown assignments, blown coverages, and penalty yards. Hopefully we can clean up some of those things this week.

Next week we travel to Virginia, MN for a 1 PM kickoff.

Go Jacks and have a great week.

Good morning Jack fans,
The Jacks played at home this weekend and lost to Central Lakes 45 to 31. The game was not as close as the final score indicates. The Jacks were not able to get anything going on offense and when we did we always did something to hurt us. The defense had trouble shutting down their offense also.

The first half was a good battle back and forth, but the third quarter was a bad one for the Jacks.
Central Lakes got it going on offense and the Jacks couldn't answer back falling behind 38 to 3 at one point. The Jacks were able to get some offense going in the fourth quarter, but the game was already decided.

We have a lot of work to do to try and fix a few things. The Jacks are on the road this week to Grand Rapids, Minnesota.

Hope you all have a great week.

Go Jacks!

Good Morning Jack Fans,
The Jacks traveled to Fergus Falls this past Saturday and came away with a hard fought 24 to 20 victory. The Jacks got on the board first with a field goal after failing to get in the end zone from a couple yards away. Fergus came back with a score and the Jacks fell behind 7 to 3. Once the Jacks got back on top they stayed there the rest of the game.

The offense really had trouble in the red zone as we were down there 4 times and only got 3 points out of it, so that is really disappointing. We need to get better in that area of the field. Overall on offense we did some good things, but the bad things stick out when you don't finish drives. Something to work on this week that is for sure.

The defense had a solid day other than a few big pass plays that we gave up. One we had two guys run into each other, I thought for sure we would intercept it, but it got threw to the receiver and the others we just didn't get good position. Overall I thought the defense played a good game, but we still have things that we need to do better there also.

I thought our special teams were good except our punt return is not were we want it yet. Our kicker was solid both in kick offs, punts, and place kicking.

Thanks for checking on the Jacks.
We play at home next Saturday at noon.

Go Jacks!

Good Morning Jack fans,
The Lumberjacks opened the season on Saturday with a 22-9 victory over Minnesota West at Worthington. The Jacks recovered a fumble on the opening offensive play but were not able to put the ball in the end zone and had to settle for a field goal attempt that just was a little wide. The Jacks defense held and the offense was able to get it in the end zone for our first touchdown of the year. We followed that up with another field goal to take a 10 zero lead after the first quarter.  The offense really struggled the second quarter with mistakes. They scored on a punt return with about 6 minutes left in the half. The Jacks were able to put together a drive and had a pass dropped in the end zone and missed another field goal as we went to half time with a 10 to 7 lead.

The second half started with the jacks holding and getting the ball back and driving down and scoring.  A couple plays later the defense came up big with a pick six. The offense had some drives but were never able to get it in the end zone again, but the defense played solid the whole game.

The Jacks are off this week, but will be put to good use to sharpen up our offense and a couple things on defense.

Have a Great Day and Go Jacks!!!!
